On 20 July 2011 Morne du Toit and his family celebrated a moment to cherish as his doctor informed him that after 4 months of chemotherapy there were no traces of Hodgkin’s lymphoma remaining in his system.
To celebrate with his MiX family Morne carved his way through an enormous cake. The sugar rush was almost as exhilarating as hearing the good news and we are all ecstatic for Morne who has been a real role model throughout his recovery period. Never has he uttered a complaint nor become despondent, keeping his focus on what mattered most – making sure he came through well for his, and his families sake.
Our message to Morne is this… Life is like the hair on top of your head; sometimes short, sometimes long. Glad we can say in your case there is no correlation to your own hair… ☺
Congratulations and keep fighting.

Got a glimpse of what is happening in the world of CAN after a very good session with colleagues from our UK team. There are some pretty exciting movements in this part of the business from all corners of the globe on busses, trucks and other vehicles.
What struck me was the level of intelligence that customers are expecting from the information they have access to on a vehicle. So not only do they expect to get the highest level accuracy of as much data as possible, but they want to derive some really sensible information from this and expect some innovative reporting on it.
The other thing that stuck in my mind was the clever ways that engineers have come up with to get information from CAN without damaging any part that would lose your warranty.
I am convinced that together with the great software we are building at MiX on all the various platforms, it is imperative to ensure that we also have the best data available for this.

MiX Telematics attended the 2010 SPE International Conference on Health, Safety & Environment in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In addition to presenting at some of the sessions during the conference MiX also had a presence with our stunning booth at the exhibition. Our stand was the envy of many other booths with a colourful design and practical use of furniture that looked as inviting as it was functional. Check out more pics of our booth.
